MARTINA OLIVA - EXTRAORDINARY IN THE ORDINARY
Nowadays everything has been reduced to a quick glance. Our attention span has drastically decreased. Life has become frantic, rushing forward without pause.
What surrounds us seems to have lost its importance: personal relationships, kindness, natural beauty. We no longer observe, we no longer imagine, we no longer go beyond. We stop at the first obstacle or settle for the reality offered to us daily.
We don’t delve deeper, we don’t explore. We’ve become lazy. Even emotions seem faded, almost nullified. We limit ourselves.
Everything has become homogenized. We’ve lost touch with humanity, with sensitivity, and have immersed ourselves in a detached, cold, selfish, and superficial reality. We’ve lost our way, almost completely.
This project by Martina Oliva (La Spezia - Italy 1999) wants to rediscover the real: the environment, people, details. It’s a journey that starts with the everyday, with the most common and simple aspects. An invitation to find the extraordinary in an object, in a person, in a feeling, in a place.
It’s a path of self-rediscovery, a return to our origins. A way to reconnect with the world from scratch, through the ordinary which, with a closer look, reveals itself as extraordinary.
